Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026 · Effective date: May 22, 2026
1. Information We Collect
We collect the information you give us and a small amount of technical information needed to run the app.
Account information: email address, display name, and authentication tokens.
Pet data you create: pet profiles (name, species, breed, age, weight, conditions), mood logs, weight history, vet visits, reminders, and any notes you add.
Photos: images you upload for food scanning, health documentation, or pet profiles.
Usage information: app version, device type, language, and non-identifying interaction events used to fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not collect contacts, precise location, or microphone or camera data outside of explicit photo uploads you start.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
• Provide core features (pet profiles, diary, reminders)
• Run AI features (food scanning, health triage, mood insights, weekly summaries)
• Send notifications you opt into, like reminders
• Process your subscription and prevent fraud
• Diagnose crashes and improve performance
• Communicate with you about important updates or support requests
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your pet photos or data to train third-party AI models.
3. AI Processing
When you use AI features, relevant content (for example, a food photo with your pet's species and weight, a health observation photo, or the text of a chat message) is sent through our secure backend to one of our AI providers for analysis:
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI Care Chat, OCR import of vet documents, and health triage fallback
• Google (Gemini) — food scanner, health triage, smart reminders, and weekly insights
The response is returned to your device and saved in your account so you can view your history.
Per each provider's API terms, content sent through these APIs is not used to train their models. Photos and text are processed only for the analysis and are not retained by the AI provider beyond what is needed to return the response.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run Petia:
• Supabase (USA) — authentication, database, file storage, server-side scheduled tasks
• Anthropic (USA) — AI processing for chat, OCR vet document import, and health triage fallback (Claude)
• Google (USA) — AI processing for food scanner, health triage, smart reminders, and weekly insights (Gemini); also Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android push delivery
• OneSignal (USA) — push notification orchestration
• Apple Push Notification service (USA) — iOS push delivery
• Apple App Store and Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions
• RevenueCat (USA) — subscription lifecycle management
Each provider only receives the data needed to perform its function. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
When you delete your account from Settings, we permanently delete your pet profiles, photos, logs, and related data within 30 days. Backups holding deleted records are overwritten on a rolling basis and are not used to restore content.
We may keep limited records (such as billing receipts) for longer where required by law.
6. Data Security
Your data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS and encrypted at rest by our infrastructure providers. The database uses row-level security policies so that each user can only access their own records. Photos in storage have per-user access controls.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a breach that affects your data, we will notify you as required by law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You can:
• Access and edit your data directly in the app
• Delete individual records (pets, logs, photos) at any time
• Delete your entire account from Settings
• Request a copy of your data by emailing support@petia.app
• Opt out of push notifications in your device settings
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA (California), including the right to object to certain processing or lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us at support@petia.app to exercise any of these rights.
8. Children's Privacy
Petia is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please email support@petia.app and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
Petia is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may be different from those in your country. By using Petia, you consent to this transfer.
10. Cookies and Tracking
The Petia mobile app does not use browser cookies. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and we do not share device identifiers for advertising purposes. The petia.app marketing website may use minimal first-party analytics; details are listed on the website if applicable.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the Last updated date and notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of Petia after the update means you accept the new policy.
